This tourist attraction includes a 30-acre hydrangea garden. When Eddie Aldredge created the Snowflake Hydrangea with his wife Kay, they lived on this property. The couple donated this land to the city of Hoover in 1997.

Aldridge Gardens features a five-acre lake, walking paths, and plenty of hydrangeas, Japanese maple trees, camellias, azaleas, bonsai, and some native plants that are native to Alabama. Most of the pathway is wheelchair accessible and several benches dot the route.

The birdwatching guide at the entrance of the garden is a “must-have” for birdwatchers who want to learn more about the gardens and their inhabitants.

Go Biking at Black Creek Mountain Bike Park Mountain biking has become so popular that Hoover joined in on the action with the Black Creek Mountain Bike Park in 2019. Just south of the Hoover Met Complex, this 73-acre park has quickly become a favorite, with bikers looking for a beautiful area and a healthy challenge.

Cycling enthusiasts ride different five-mile loops with varying difficulty levels. The pathways trek around a ridge over Black Creek. The average time to bike the course is 49 minutes. It’s a perfect place to go mountain biking. Pets are not permitted at Black Creek Mountain Bike Park.

Play Golf at the Award-winning RTJ Golf Trail at Ross Bridge. The Hoover Chamber of Commerce website says, “Even the most experienced golfer will be taken back by the magnitude of this sculpted landscape. In 2019, Golf Magazine ranked Ross Bridge as one of North America’s Best golf resorts. It continues to be a favorite among Golf Digest’s editors due to the fact that it is the world’s fifth-longest golf course. It has a stunning 80-foot waterfall and an antique gristmill.

Attend a Performance at the Library Theatre. This theatre is well-known worldwide for its musical, dance, and other performances. The lower level of Hoover Library is home to the Library Theater.

Honor the Nation’s Heroes at Veterans Park Each year, Hoover hosts the Great American Cross-Country Race starting at this park. It’s a 5-k cross-country trek for walkers and joggers. There’s a two-acre lake with a pier. Each military branch has a memorial in the park that honors those who have given their lives in service to our country.
